Page originally published his story in 1888 but this version was published by Charles Scribner’s Sons in 1929.
Volume is hardbound with the title and author’s name in white on a brown cover with the illustration of a musket, knapsack and accoutrements under the title. Covers show light wear and minor rubbing. Book is ex-library.
Interior has some child-like scribbling in pencil on the first few pages but the rest is mostly clean and in good shape. Volume has 8 black & white illustrations and the binding is good. Title page has light foxing.
The author came from a well to do Southern family that was ruined by the war. This book is a fictional look at the war through the eyes of two small boys. The story line is, as one who understands the period would expect, pro southern. [ad]
