Fruit jar produced by Whitall, Tatum & Company of Millville, New Jersey. This jar was produced in various sizes, this being a 48 ounce size. Has “WHITALL’S PATENT JUNE 18^TH 1861” in raised letters on the front. Back side reads, “MILLVILLE ATMOSPHERIC FRUIT JAR”. Aqua in color. Closure for this style of fruit jar was a glass lid with Whitall’s patent info, secured by an iron yoke. Minor chip along inside lid, not that noticeable; otherwise perfect!  [ws]
