Fruit jar produced by Whitall, Tatum & Company of Millville, New Jersey. This jar was produced in various sizes, this being a 48 ounce size. Has “WHITALL’S PATENT JUNE 18TH 1861” in raised letters on the front. Back side reads, “MILLVILLE ATMOSPHERIC FRUIT JAR”. Aqua in color. Closure for this style of fruit jar was a glass lid with Whitall’s patent info, secured by an iron yoke. Minor chip along inside lid, not that noticeable; otherwise perfect! [ws]
