This small, original writing accoutrement is a soldier’s pocket size inkwell from the Civil War era.  With the screw cap on, the inkwell measures 2” tall x 1 1/8” in diameter.  Made from dark rosewood, the device is lathe-turned to produce a handsome cylindrical container.  Interior is drilled out to receive a narrow glass vial. Entire exterior surface of this cylindrical rosewood inkwell has a fine, dark patina.   [jet]
