Brass coat button has the Virginia coat of arms on a plain field with Virtus’ spear shaft behind Tyranny’s head. Within a lined border around the coat of arms is “VIRGINIA” and “SIC SEMPER TYRANNIS”. Backmark reads, “SCOVILL MFG. CO. WATERBURY”.
Stamping and detail of face is excellent. Attached shank is very slightly bent, but firmly attached. Brass has a darkened patina but original gilt shows in areas. [sl]
