Two-piece brass United Confederate Veterans medal from the 1917 reunion in Washington, D.C. Top hangar has raised lettering that reads, “SOUVENIR”. Reverse retains original pin. Suspended from bar is a medal in the shape of a shield with the image of a Confederate battle flag in the center. Surrounding the flag is raised lettering which reads, “UNITED CONFEDERATE VETERANS REUNION, JUNE 4-7, 1917, WASHINGTON, D.C.”. Reverse has maker’s mark present which reads, “SCHWAAB S & S CO. MILWAULKE”. Original gilt is bright on both hangar and medal. Housed in an attractive display box.  [sl]
