These were popular after the Civil War to use as advertisements for businesses. Face of note is an authentic reproduction of a Confederate fifty-cent note with a statement on the left that reads, “TWO YEARS AFTER THE RATIFICATION OF A TREATY OF PEACE BETWEEN THE CONFEDERATE STATES AND UNITED STATES”.
Ad on reverse reads, “TRY HALLER’S REMEDIES. DRUGGISTS REFUND ALL MONIES PAID FOR HALLER’S REMEDIES IF YOU ARE NOT BENEFITED BY THEIR USE. EVERY BOTTLE IS GUATANTEED ON WRAPPER. NO CURE, NO PAY. MANUFACTURED BY THE HALLER PROPIETARY CO. BLAIR, NEB.”
