Early war bond issued from the Confederate Capital at Richmond, Virginia. The bond is dated October 21, 1862 and is numbered 648. The center image is of an unknown man. Lithograph was done by B. Duncan of Richmond.
At the bottom are 33 coupons remaining out of the original 36. The first was redeemable January 1, 1867 and the last on July 1, 1881. Measures 16 ½” x 17 ¾”on a 19 ¼” x 24 ½” mount. Bond is in very good condition with faint creases. Yellowing has occurred from age. All ink inscriptions are readable. [sl]
