Patriotic envelope features red and blue border design, and is stamped with a five-point star with images of US Presidents George Washington, James Madison, Abraham Lincoln, William McKinley and Woodrow Wilson. Inside of the star it reads, “GRAND ENCAMPMENT G.A.R. SEPT. 18-23, 1932, SRPINGFIELD, ILL., SAMUEL BROWN COMMANDER-IN –CHIEF”. Envelope is post marked, “SPRINGFIELD, ILL, SEP.21, 6 PM, 1932”. There are two 1932 George Washington postage stamps, one 3 cents and one 5 cents, which have been cancelled. Envelope was addressed to “AUREN G. MUIR 2100 KNOXVILLE AVE. PEORIA, ILL”. Reverse has an imprint which reads, “SPONSERED BY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE, Y.M.C.A. JUNIOR STAMP CLUB, LINCOLN’S HOME PHILATELIC SOCIETY”.
Measures 6 ½” X 3 ¾’.
Paper is lightly soiled and yellowed with age. This is a nice GAR collectible.
