This is an insurance policy covering fire protection to Samuel Weist and his property in Mummasburg, Pa. The village of Mummasburg is located approximately five miles northwest of Gettysburg.
This document measures 11” x 17” and is four pages total. “The Mummasburg Mutual Fire Protection Society” is printed across the masthead of the document with an attractive flag and eagle motif. The policy is dated March 6, 1869 and covers the “Log house 21 x 25 with kitchen attached 17 x 12”, a “Bank barn 50 x 40”, and hay and grain in the barn.
Various folds which do not detract. Paper is in good condition (not brittle). Ten cent revenue stamp on face of document. An interesting piece of local history. [jet]
