Affidavit for Wife, requesting State of Wisconsin financial aid for Private John J. Bean of Company D, 37th Wisconsin Infantry.  Signed by Mrs. Betsey Bean and dated May 1st 1865.  Includes 5 cent revenue stamp and a written statement from the acting assistant surgeon of the Camp Randall (Wisconsin) hospital, attesting to Private Bean’s hospitalization.  Pages are twice signed by the Dane County justice of the peace.  Private Bean enlisted in the 37th WI on August 30th, 1864.  He was mustered out two days after the affidavit was signed, on May 3rd, 1865.  Bean later lived in Nebraska and was a member of GAR Post #25 in Lincoln, NE.  Pages are in excellent condition, crisp printing and ink throughout.  [JC]
