Standard eagle masthead discharge for Corporal Smith A. Barker. The document is pre-printed and filled out in legible ink. The face of the document is clean but has five horizontal and three vertical fold lines. The upper right corner has a Paymaster’s notation.
Smith A. Barker enlisted as a Corporal in Company C, 35th Pennsylvania (6th Reserves) on May 13, 1861 and was mustered in the same day. During his time with the regiment it saw action at Dranesville, Gaines’ Mill, 2nd Bull Run, South Mountain, Antietam, Fredericksburg, Gettysburg, Bristoe Station, Mine Run, the Wilderness and Spotsylvania. On May 31, 1864 Barker was transferred to Company D, 191st Pennsylvania. He was with this regiment through the Petersburg campaign and the end of the war. He was mustered out on June 28, 1865.
Item comes in a nice modern wooden frame..
