Discharge was given to Daniel M. Thomas, Private of Captain George W. Baldwin’s Co. A, 2oth Regiment of Pennsylvania Cavalry Volunteers, who was enrolled on the sixteenth of April 1863 to serve six months. Discharge is dated January 6, 1864 in Harrisburg. Thomas is listed as being born in Perry County, was nineteen years old, 5’7”, with dark complexion and gray eyes, and worked as a blacksmith. Document is signed by Baldwin.

Measures 8 ½” x 11”. Paper has yellowed with age. Shows fold creases and scattered spotting. Totally readable.

Page removed from family Bible shows the marriage of Thomas to Mary Jane Swartz in 1867, and the record of their births and the births of their children. Measures 8” x 10 ½”. Page has yellowed and is in good condition except for a torn corner.   [SL]
