Dated March 16, the document indicates that Cayer was born in France and was 30 years old and worked as a 'joiner'. He was a new crew recruit, and received a $300 bounty for enlisted in the Union Army. On 3/16/64 he was mustered into Co. C, 10th New York Infantry. Transferred to Co. C on 4/30/64. Listed as wounded on 5/6/64 at the Wilderness. Deserted on 9/26/64.
In very fine conditon, the document (8" x 7 1/2") is housed in an attractive two sided frame (13 3/4" x 14 3/4").
