Explanation the first

I Entered the Service Early in 1777in the Sixth Regt. Col Henderson South Carolina line Capt. Henderson first attempted to raise a company of Calvary But failing in the attempt he resigned his commission and George Warley was promoted to the captaincy and his company turned over to the foot and attached to the above Regt. sometime in 1777.

2nd after I had Served out my three years the Enemy being in Sight of Charleston an order was Issued forbidding the men to be discharged the Sixth being much Weakened I was taken Into the first regt by what was then called impressment and there remained till the Surrender of Charleston When I was taken prisoner by the Enemy in 1780 from whom I made my Escape for further particulars and proof of my accompanying the Same on Which a Certificate has issued Last August/ his/ Abraham X Hambra/Mark.

On the second page leaf is written:

State of South Carolina/ Spartanburgh District

The honorable Sectry at was will take notice the object of your Petitioner Abrm Hambra is to obtain a certificate for a pension in addition to the obtained Last august to bear date from the date of this application or declaration accompanying this letter if consistant with the rules Established by the War office With high Esteem I am yours &c 1826/ Hugh Moore Senr.

Reverse: “From Hugh Moore/ Spartanburgh, S.C./ Aus. 21st Apl 1826”
