Pleasant Supervising the Arrival of the Powder”, “General Grant’[s Campaign—Hancock’s Corps Crossing the James River From Jones’s Neck, July 26, 1864.” Interior pages contain a magnificent double page sketch by Harper’s Weekly’s lead artist A.R. Waud, titled: “General Grant’s Campaign—The Explosion of the Mine and Assault on Cemetery Hill, Before Petersburg, July 30, 1864.”
Exhibits small mounting dots along left margin, w/ light chipping round the others, w/three tiny cover dots. Else VG, and handsome. In terms of battle coverage, this is the definitive Harper’s treatment of the July, 30, 1864. Petersburg, cover explosion. Superb collectible. In protective sleeve, w/white card backing.
