Vol. XIV, No. 4237, eight pages, six columns each. Very good condition with fold lines, light creasing and minor chipping at edges. Paper shows light yellowing in areas due to age. Top of pages is uncut. Totally readable. Top of paper shows a hand inscribed name in pencil.

Front page is full of news about the end of the Civil War, titled, “THE CAMPAIGN IN ALABAMA”. Page two is, “THE NATIONAL BEREAVEMENT”. Page three is advertisements. Page four, “NEWS OF THE DAY”, about the end of war, such as Mosby’s men surrendering, but Mosby himself still being on the loose, and the search for John Wilkes Booth. Page five is news of Sherman’s Army and more advertisements. Page six-seven are advertisements and auction/ public notices. Final page is more information of the schedule for the Lincoln funeral and advertisements. Many of the ads throughout paper are for mourning pins in honor of Lincoln.  [sl
