Front cover features a poem [“April 20, 1864], by Private Miles O’Reilly, with illustration of a regimental reunion. Internal illustrations include a dramatic full page sketch of “The Massacre At Fort Pillow”. Also two sketches of Sherman’s Army at Ringgold, Georgia, and two naval sketches of “Admiral Porter’s Flotilla” and the “The Steam-Ram “Switzerland””. Plus a double page centerfold of “The Press in the Field” [interviewing and sketching soldiers]. As well as one page depiction of the New York Sanitary Commission Fair.

Exhibits mounting dots and light chipping of left cover margin. Else VG, with smooth cover. Solid collectible. The Fort Pillow Massacre sketch pulls no punches.  In protective sleeve, w/white card backing. [JP]
