Edited by William Lloyd Garrison, The Liberator was the famed anti-slavery newspaper, founded in 1831, that continued in publication through the passage of the 13th Constitutional Amendment, which abolished slavery at the close of the Civil War. With his mission completed, Garrison closed down his paper down on January 1, 1866.
This issue celebrates the Liberator’s Thirty-First National Anti-Slavery Subscription Anniversary. With a complete subscriber’s list, and amounts, January 1865. Excellent collectible.
