MODEL 1855 BAYONET AND SCABBARD

$350.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 410-71

The leather on this Model 1855 bayonet scabbard is very clean but has been gone over with shellac or brown shoe polish. Either way it has left the leather with a decidedly shiny brown but clean appearance.

The scabbard is the eight rivet variety with a visible sub-inspectors stamp on the frog. The center seam running down the body of the scabbard is closed tight. The body shows some light scattered surface crackling throughout. There is also moderate wear at the point where the frog meets the scabbard body.

The blade of the bayonet is semi-bright with light mottling over the entire surface with a strong “US” stamping on the flat. The socket has a dark patina with a free moving locking ring.
