This brass handled saber bayonet measures approximately 30 ¼” long with a 25 ¼” long blade. Marked “1862” on the ricasso. Fuller is nearly 15 ½” long. Blade is dark gray with surface pitting. There are no nicks on the blade. The hilt is cast brass. The patina is a nice mellow yellow. Marked on the flat of the handle top is a small sub-inspector’s stamp. The cross guard, ribbed grip, and locking spring in the handle are all in excellent condition.   [jet]
