Very rare Southern bayonet made by in the Confederacy for the Richmond rifle-musket; the Southern copy of the US Model-1855 socket bayonet. This is the more desirable fluted type issued with newly made arms (the Richmond Armory also made a simpler non-fluted type).  This bayonet is essentially a lesser-quality copy of the typical Springfield bayonet and does not bear the “US” stamp. Another telltale attribute is of the off-center locking ring screw.  Good condition with a dark gray color.  A very difficult and desirable Confederate bayonet to obtain! [jet]
