This is the Model 1855 socket bayonet for Springfield rifle muskets.  Measures approximately 21” overall.  This specimen features a bright surface overall with scattered light gray “speckles” over the blade. Complete with locking ring and screw.  Large “US” clearly stamped on blade flat with small “S” inspector’s mark. Fine condition.

Original black bridle leather scabbard and frog. The body is in very good condition with a good tight seam running up the back. Brass scabbard tip attached with four tacks. Arched leather frog is in good condition. The frog is seven rivet style and is sewn to the scabbard. All leather is in good condition with minor surface crazing and loss. Scabbard has no marker’s or inspector’s marks.   [jet]
