Saber-style bayonet for the Sharps Rifle. The overall length of this bayonet is 26 ½” while the graceful-looking, slightly curved blade itself is 21 ½” long. Bayonet was primarily intended for issue to the Federal infantryman. The brass ribbed grip remains bright and has several dings. Locking spring and button are present and work well. A serial number (43102) is strongly stamped on the top flat of the grip. Other numbers are found stamped on the cross guard and at the pommel.
Blade has a dark pewter color and mostly smooth surface. Ricasso has a worn stamp of “1860” on the one side while the maker’s name is completely worm off the other side. A nice clean bayonet for your Sharps rifle. [jet]
