The drawn bayonet meas. approx. 21.75 inches from point to pommel. The blade is finished bright and meas. approx. 17.00 inches long with a central fuller. Edges is free of nicks but the blade surface does show a few spots of oxidation. The ricasso is blued on both sides. One side is stamped with a Kings crown above the date “1907.” Below this is an inspection date of “10 ‘16” and at very bottom is the maker name which is too faint to read. The opposite side of the ricasso is marked with an “X” bend test mark and a broad arrow. Stamped over the arrow is what looks to be “19” over “7 S” over “E.” Iron elliptical cross guard is also blued. Grip is made of wood with an iron pommel. Wood is held by two screws and the pommel has a working button type lug attachment.

Scabbard is of brown leather with steel top mount and chape. Leather is in excellent condition. Top mount has a stud for attaching to a frog. Scabbard is stamped along back seam “MANGROVITE 44” for the Australian Mangrovite Arsenal.

This type bayonet was used by the British and Commonwealth Forces in both World Wars.  [ad]
