Standard issue Union bridle leather bayonet scabbard with buff leather frog. The frog is the 8-rivet variety that came into use in 1864. The leather surfaces are very nice with no crazing whatsoever. The frog is lightly stamped with a large oval maker’s mark that is unreadable. The main seam down the body is good and tight. The brass finial is present and still semi-bright.
The bayonet that accompanies the scabbard is bright with a thin “US” stamping. The top of the letter “S” is a little light. The socket and knuckle has been blued.
