Semi-bright blade meas. approx. 9.75 inches long x 1.00 inch wide. Blade has a clipped point with a raised center. Blade surface has light scattered mottling with small amounts of surface pitting in small pockets and some minor scratches. The true edge of the blade has 4 or 5 minor nicks in one area but the rest is good and does not show any signs of re-sharpening. The blade also has ten cyphers over its length in two lines along one side. The top line has a scroll that reads “THE GREAT FAR WEST HUNTING KNIFE” followed by two hounds chasing a bull, Engraved on the bull’s body is “COURSE.” The second line of cyphers starts approx. 1.00 inch from the point with a faint rooster standing on a scroll that reads “TRY ME.” Next is a lion or tiger running toward a kneeling Indian in headdress aiming his bow and arrow. Next is the bust of an officer done at right angles to the rest of the cyphers. Below the bust is “OLD ZACH.” Next is a lion in repose with “I SURPASS ALL” engraved on its body followed by a pointed soft cap that reads “LIBERTY” which is in turn followed by another resting lion with “TRY ME” engraved on its body. All cyphers except the rooster are strong. Ricasso is marked “THEODOR / A. MEYER” in two lines.

Elliptical counter guard is of silver and mostly clean with only light scattered shadowing. Handle is of knurled stag horn with a wide round silver pommel. Horn is light in color with nice dark deep recesses that give the handle a nice look. There are no visible chips or cracks.

Overall length of the item is approx.14.25 inches long. Item has a very nice overall look with a light patina throughout.  [ad]
