By “George Wostenholm & Sons/ Washington Works/ Sheffield.” Additional blade markings: “The Real I*XL Knife/ The Hunter’s Companion (ricasso) I*XL”. Overall length, 14.25”, with “10 clipped-point blade, 1.125”width at base; 2.75” German silver cross-guard; 4” bone handle, fastened with double rivets, top and bottom. Reverse handle name plate, in cursive script, “P. A. Davis”, made of German silver, 1.625 x .25”, with double rivets. Reverse cross guard initial marking, “R.L.F.”

Blade exhibits smooth, dark gray patina with patches of light to medium pitting, especially near the tip. (Blade markings remain sharp and entirely legible). Cross guard and handle name-plate display slight scratching. Bone handle tight and pristine. Else VG. Solid “I*XL” specimen of the 1850s Wostenholm I*XL Bowie Excellent collectible with double owner marking.

Knife has been re-united with its sheath, as shown in the photographs above, which had been misplaced and was recently located by its previous owner; the knife's price remains unchanged. [JP]
