Maker mark: “Ames Mfg. Co. / Chicopee/Mass.” Inspectors mark: “U.S. / J.H. / 1864”. Brilliant, ding-free blade measures 32” in length, .875” at base. Washer worn, but present. Bright coppery hilt assembly is tight and symmetrical. Smooth consistent patina with minor scratching. Black leather scabbard bright and solid. Medium coppery throat and drag, with sub-inspector marking “L.H.K.”, light scratching & one minor ding. Else VG plus plus. Great NCO display specimen.
