Maker mark: “Emerson & / Silver / Trenton/ N.J.”. Inspector markings: “U.S. / J.M. 1865”. Markings lightly stamped, but legible. Bright fine blade measures 34.5” in length, 1.125” in width at base. Washer present. Hilt assembly tight and symmetrical, exhibiting medium coppery patina, with minor nicks & scratching. Knuckle-guard stamping: “34TRDNJ”. Pommel inspection initials: “J.M.” “M”. Original leather grips display wear & light chipping, wire-wrap is tight. Scabbard is ding-free, while exhibiting splotchy plum colored patina. Else VG.
