Saber has bright blade with a perfect edge. The ricasso is marked on one side “C. ROBY, W. CHELSMSFORD, MASS.” Opposite side has “US 1864” with inspector’s initials of “A.G.M.” Leather washer is present. Markings are sharp.
Hilt has standard brass pommel cap, knucklebow and guard. The grip is leather with twisted wire wrap. On the bottom of guard up against leather washer there is an engraved number. The number is done in very small characters and is barely visible.
Standard bright scabbard with both mounts and rings. There are several small scattered dents.
The overall condition of the item is good. The brass on the hilt is bright and may have been lightly cleaned. The scabbard has light to moderate mottling but is otherwise very good.
