This model was one of the many weapons produced by the Ames Manufacturing Company of Chicopee, MA, during the Civil War. Very bright, untouched blade measures 36” in length. Very strong markings, “US/JH/1864” with the Ames marking very crisp on the reverse side. Blade about perfect condition. Brass hilt, knuckle bow 6” in length. Very nice leather grip with the original brass wire. Steel scabbard complete in excellent condition, no rust/dings.
Overall a wonderful, choice artillery sabre.
