Size: 29.5 inch heavily curved blade Condition: Excellent+
Earliest known Marine Corps Mamaluke saber. C1812 blackened grips of polished wood. Silver plated mountings including ‘star within a star’ grip fasteners. Beautiful wide blade with blue and gold decoration consisting of Arms, cannon, drums and banners, foliate, American eagle with Federal shield containing 15 stars. (1795 - 1818). There is also an Indian Maiden with headdress. The reverse has foliate, a stand of arms and scroll work. There is a double edged clipped point extending back 9 inches from the tip. The scabbard is steel with a curved throat and 2 screws, thin ring bands, split carry rings and a modest drag.
