MODEL 1840 NCO SWORD

$225.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 913-48

This is a Model 1840 N.C.O. sword. In good overall condition, these swords were carried by Federal non-commissioned officers as a sign of authority in the ranks. Sword is approximately 39” long and has no scabbard. The 32” long straight sword blade exhibits a gray color with darker speckles overall and two or three nicks. The ricasso bears a worn Ames stamp on one side (reads, “Chickopee, Mass) but no date on the other. The sword’s brass hilt features a simulated wire-wrap grip, a double shell-style guard, and a single-branch knucklebow.  All brass has an uncleaned, mellow bronze patina.   [jet]
