Blade is in good condition. The surface has light scattered mottling. The edges have only one nick and this has to be felt more than seen to know it is there. Ricasso is stamped with Eagle and “N. P. Ames, Springfield” in two lines on one side while the other is stamped “United States 1841 W.S.” in four lines. Cast brass counterguard and grip are semi-bright. Underside of counterguard is stamped with “W.S.” and “M.P.L. ORD.” Pommel cap has a nice drooped winged Eagle on both sides.
Scabbard is solid. Leather body has moderate scattered crazing while the brass throat and scabbard tip are semi-bright to match the grip. Frog button is present at throat. Back seam of scabbard is good and tight.
