Produced by the Spencer Rifle Company of Boston, Massachusetts, this ten-pound Civil War Model 1860 Spencer breechloading repeating carbine is in excellent original condition. Carbine, which fired the .52 caliber, “No. 56” Spencer rimfire cartridge, has a 22” long barrel and a two-piece black walnut stock.

Barrel wears a nice light gray color. Has the large folding rear sight with slide and the brass “blade” front sight. Receiver is semi-bright. Hammer and lockplate of matching finish.  Bore has original six-groove rifling that is sharp. Bore is bright and clean. Wood is original with practically no dings or scratches. Color is very dark. Stock is solid in every way. Two light inspector cartouches visible behind saddle ring bar. Top flat of the receiver, forward of the hammer, is stamped with “SPENCER REPEATING / RIFLE CO. BOSTON MASS / PAT’D. MARCH 6, 1860”. Serial #34643 is located at the top rear of the receiver near the hammer.

Original sling bar and sling ring are tightly secured to the left side of stock. Retains the single swivel near the stock toe. Carbine frame screws are in decent shape; a few may be replaced. All metal surfaces of the carbine are clean and smooth. Original magazine tube and spring. Mechanics are crisp and strong. A pleasing and classic original Civil War M1860 Spencer carbine in exceptional condition.  [jet]
