Complete paper round ball cartridge for .69 caliber smoothbore flintlock musket. Made with course paper and has a very short tail. This specimen features the "bald bullet" where the cartridge was constructed with the round ball visible at the top of the cartridge. During the Civil War, Selma Arsenal is known to have made ammunition in this method and it is known that they suffered from a lack of thread to tie cartridges. Because of the very large powder charge, this would have been intended for a flintlock musket (extra powder was included for priming). However, this could just as easily be a pre-Civil War or European cartridge. Regardless, this is a great cartridge specimen. One repair which does not affect displayability.
