Scarce red paper cartridge for .58 caliber rifle muskets. This cartridge contains a Williams patent, type III "cleaner" bullet. These red cartridges are the least common of all the Williams cartridges. The specimen has some darkening around the bullet where the lubricant has soaked the paper, but otherwise this is a great example of a rare Civil War cartridge.    [jet]
