This screw top powder flask is made out of horn and has a wooden base. Both the top and base of flask are tacked in place with small nails. It is engraved in fancy script with the owner’s name, “CAPT. M. MILLER, BOSTON, MASS 1809”.
Flask measures 8” tall. Base measures 2” x 3 ¼”. Item is in very good condition with some small cracks in the horn at the base.
This is a great example of the horns that militia units would have used in early America. [sm]
