In 1855 3,450 Colt 1851 Navy revolvers being shipped by Colt to the Russian government concealed in bales of cotton were intercepted by Prussian customs officials. Eventually sold at auction to the government, 900 were subsequently issued to the Kriegsmarine with German made holsters, cylinder pouches, cappers and picks. The cappers and brass picks were issued on twisted hemp cords. The holsters and even the cappers show up from time to time, but the picks are usually missing. Here’s a chance to complete a KM Colt accoutrement display or belt rig. [sr]
