Made for the Allen & Wheelock Army revolver. Ethan Allen received a patent for lipfire cartridges in 1860. Instead of the priming compound being in a rim around the whole cartridge, as in Smith & Wesson rounds, Allen only put fulminate in a small lip at the bottom of the cartridge. The bullet features the two raised bands that are typical of Allen-made rounds. Very nice condition. [jet]
