Item Code: 713-19

This cap and ball percussion sidearm is a Civil War specimen of the Remington-Beals Army model revolver. Approximately 1,900 of these percussion revolvers were produced between 1861 and 1862. Majority were purchased by the U.S. Army. The .44 caliber, single action has a solid frame and unrebated six-shot cylinder with an 8” octagonal rifled barrel. The barrel has barrel threads visible at the breech end of the frame that conceals the threads. Grips are original two-piece walnut in very good-plus condition with a clear, single government inspector cartouche on the left grip. Major components also exhibit sub-inspector marks. The five-digit serial number #76985 is strongly stamped into the bottom facet of the barrel above the loading lever and on the butt stock frame. All gun metal is devoid of any colors and has been cleaned to semi bright. Barrel markings very light but visible. Pinched front sight at barrel muzzle. Sidearm features a brass trigger guard, steel backstrap and a low hammer spur. Original screws are not buggered. Mechanics are crisp and tight. All original nipples. An early Remington revolver in very good condition.
