This percussion, six-shot, double-action bar hammer pocket pistol is a beautiful “pepperbox-style” specimen produced by the Allen & Thurber firm of Worcester, Massachusetts between 1845 and 1854. Pistol is a .32 caliber weapon with a 3 7/8” long, revolving screw-off, fluted barrel. Total revolver length is approximately 7½”. Two piece grips are walnut, varnished and are in exceptional condition. Frame, lock, hammer, and barrel have all acquired a light plum patina. The barrel also retains a nice amount of original bluing in the recessed flutes. Revolver features factory engraving in a floral motif executed on both side of the frame. Strong mechanics. Nipples intact, not chipped or broken. Bar hammer is stamped on the left side, “ALLEN’S PATENT / 1845”. One of the barrel facets clearly shows “ALLEN & THURBER WORCESTER”. A few of the screws slightly buggered. A beautiful “pepperbox” revolver. [jet]
