The serial numbers on this revolver all match except for the wedge, which is blank and ill-fitting. Serial number is 33715 which places production early in 1869.
Revolver is .36 caliber and has a 6-shot cylinder with a round barrel that is 7.50 inches long. The barrel surface, like the rest of the weapon, is bright throughout with light scattered mottling. The top of the barrel has a good single line stamping that reads “ADDRESS COL. SAML COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA.” Front sight is present. Bore is dark but has good rifling. Wedge pin screw is missing.
The loading lever is present under the barrel and operates properly.
The cylinder retains approx. 95% of the cylinder scene. It has all of the original nipples but the pin stops are gone. Action is good. Indexing is on again/off again.
The three frame screws are in good condition. Forward of the screws is a very strong “COLT’S PATENT” in two lines.
Grips are of varnished walnut and are in good condition with light surface wear around the edges. Frame shows mostly brass with some silver wash present forward of the trigger guard. [ad]
