Made by Simeon North, of Middletown, CT, C. 1819-1822, total manufacture 20,400.
Overall Length 15.5”, barrel length 10, with swivel style steel ramrod. Lockplate marking: “S. North” worn illegible, “U” eagle “S” partially legible, “Midltn Conn.” Cleanly legible, as is “1822.” Barrel marked at breech: “J/P/ US” (“S” illegible.) All metal parts exhibit pleasing and consistent plum-colored patina. Wooden stock displays minor nicks and dings consistent with age and usage, and four slight cracks. Flintlock apparatus solid. Trigger & cocking mechanism workable. .54 caliber bore is dusty & slightly pitted. In all, a good Simeon North M1819 single-shot display piece. [jp]
