NEAR MINT REMINGTON RAND M1911A1 PISTOL FROM 1943 (NOT REWORKED)

$2,400.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: G3969

Exceptional example of the standard issue .45 caliber service pistol used by the Americans in World War II.  Principal markings include: “NO. 1324944” (serial number); “REMINGTON RAND INC.  SYRACUSE, N.Y. U.S.A.” (manufacturer); “UNITED STATES PROPERTY  M1911A1  U.S. ARMY” (model); “FJA” (inspector Lt. Col. Frank J. Atwood, U. S. Army Ordnance Corps).

The condition is exceptional with 98% of the finish remaining; really Like New!  The bore is also exceptional. The pistol is fully functioning and still has its ORIGINAL WORLD WAR II FINISH!  The pistol has never been reworked!  This means the pistol has a pleasing overall OD finish and the barrel is blued.  The magazine is also a wartime blued type marked “L’ for manufacturer Little.  The vast majority of M1911A1 pistols available to collectors today have been reworked/re-parkerized, but not this one!

Remington Rand manufactured over 875,000 M1911A1 pistols during World War II; based on the serial number, this example was made in 1943.

Classic M1911A1 pistols in original unaltered World War II condition rarely come on the market!  Excellent opportunity to own a collector grade classic American pistol made a year before the D-Day landings!  [sk]
