The 1860 Colt Army is a .44 caliber, 6 shot cylinder with an 8 inch round barrel and an attached loading lever. Serial numbers began at number 1 and ended around number 200500. Offered is serial number 92537, which was manufactured in 1863. The barrel marking is ADDRESS COL SAML COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA and the left side of the frame is marked COLTS / PATENT. The cylinder also had a roll engraved scene of a battle between the Texas Navy and the Mexican Navy and is also marked COLTS PATENT and the serial number. The grip straps were made of steel and blued. The grips were one piece of varnished walnut with a cartouche on each side. Both cartouches are still visible.  Colt stamped the serial number on the frame, trigger guard, backstrap, and barrel lug. The last four or five numbers are stamped on the cylinder, wedge, cylinder pin and written in the backstrap cut of the grips. All numbers are matching on this pistol. Overall finish is a gunmetal gray patina throughout the weapon.

Traces of the cylinder scene are still very visible. Action works perfectly. Many sub-inspector marks located throughout the pistol. Very nice original untouched civil war weapon.
