Uhlinger manufactured pistols between 1861 and 1865. It is estimated that he manufactured approximately 10,000 pistols in three variations, long cylinder 22 caliber rimfire, short cylinder 22 caliber rimfire and a 32 caliber rimfire. Since Smith and Wesson owned the patient for this pistol, Uhlinger used many trade names to avoid detection.
Offered is one such pistol in .32 caliber and marked D.D.CONE / WASHINGTON, D.C. on the top of the barrel. It has serial number 4161 stamped on the butt, and it also has a five-inch octagon barrel. The grips are made from rosewood. The blueing is ling gone except for a small spot on the barrel but it has a nice gunmetal gray patina throughout the pistol. Action is fully functional. Great bore.
