This popular, classic repeating firearm is an iron-framed, lever-action .44 caliber Winchester center fire Model 1873 repeating musket. Musket, which is in excellent-plus condition, has the standard 30” round barrel with its 27” long tubular magazine. Dust cover rail is integrally machined into the frame. Musket features a full length stock / forend with three barrel bands, a square-base military style, folding long range rear sight graduated to 800 yards. Front sight doubles as a bayo lug. Top of the barrel bears the maker’s two-line address “WINCHESTER’S REPEATING ARMS. NEW HAVEN. CT. / KING’S IMPROVEMENT PATENTED MARCH 29, 1866. OCTOBER 16, 1860.” In most excellent condition, this 3rd Model 1873 musket bears serial # 571089B and was produced in the 2nd or 3rd quarter of 1903 per Winchester records. Specimen has a 30” long round barrel with a tubular magazine located beneath it secured by three barrel bands.

The rifle’s iron frame employs Winchester superintendent Nathan King’s 1866 patent for storing cartridges in the tube and also for loading the tube through a hinged gate on the right side of the frame. Lever-action frame has a sliding, rail mounted dust-cover with serrated thumb edges, no saddle ring, and is fitted to a two-piece, oil-stained black walnut stock and forend. Forend wears the iron nose cap. Musket exhibits almost all original case colors or bluing but does show a pleasing, smooth, dark plum patina in areas. Fantastic bore is super bright and exhibits original rifling with no blemishes.

Original black walnut stock has very few dings, dents, or abrasions from use and age. No breaks or repairs. No cartouches visible. Serial #571089B located on the triggerguard tang. Original frame screws excellent, not buggered. Curved, carbine-style, iron butt plate has the brass-mounted slide for the cleaning aperture in the stock. Remarkably, the five-piece cleaning rod set is still packed inside the stock cavity. Musket has crisp and tight mechanics.

A very fine, shiny bright matching 21” long socket bayonet accompanies the musket. This almost mint Winchester Model 1873 lever-action musket requires a Federal Firearms License background check (FFL).

Firearm may only be shipped to a licensed dealer (FFL Holder) - If you are not a licensed dealer, you must make arrangements with a dealer in your state to receive the firearm and transfer it to you.
