Very fine example. Conversion by “Cone on Barrel” from flintlock to percussion. .69 cal. smoothbore. Lock is marked, “SPRING / FIELD 1837” at rear of lock. A wingspread eagle with “U.S.” below forward of hammer on the lock. Barrel tang also dated 1837. Nice smooth semi-bright metal. Choice walnut stock with VF+ inspector’s cartouches. Mechanically perfect! Conversion was done prior to the Civil War and many of these were issued to troops at the beginning of the war.
