This is an 1853 British Enfield Rifle Musket with a .577 caliber percussion muzzle loader. The walnut stock is in very good condition, just showing normal signs of use. The lock plate is marked “1862/ Tower” forward of hammer with British Crown behind hammer. Barrel has appropriate breech markings. Brass buttplate and trigger guard are all metal with dark patina. There is some light putting near breech area around the nipple. Rifle is mechanically perfect. All 100% original and complete. The rifling in bore is weak at spots, but overall not bad. Rifle is accompanied by a perfectly fitting Enfield socket bayonet with semi-bright blade and dark socket.   [ss]
